The almost universal impact using wood in inteior spaces is the creation of a warm atmosphere. Wood enhances the creation of a calming and soothing environment, positively influencing the mood and productivity of the space's users. This effect is directly related to the material's warm color tones, the tactile experience it offers, and its unique natural patterns. Furthermore, wood's durability, versatility and timeless style make it an essential component of interior spaces.

As a readily available material that offers a rich visual diversity due to various wood species, wood provides opportunities for different decoration possibilities. To illustrate this, we can look at the context of living rooms, where a significant amount of time is spent. Here are some ideas for using wood in living rooms!

Wooden Floors

The use of flooring is the most common and universal way to incorporate wood into interior spaces. The advantages of wood flooring include its natural appearance, durability and reconfigurability. In addition to effectively insulating against the coldness of concrete, wood offers various decoration options for different styles. For industrial and rustic-themed living rooms, its recommended to consider veined oak flooring. Products like Assos-D41 or Etenna-D31 from the Pure Line Collection can be a fitting complement to this style. For a minimalist and Scandinavian design approach, the Magnesia-D62 model from the Planks-Country Collection, with its color tone and texture, its highly suitable. In spaces where a French or palace style is desired, model such as Nysa-D28 from the Chevron&Herringbone Collection can be considered.

Use of Wood on Walls and Ceilings

The use of wood on walls has been a recurring trend in interior design for the past few seasons.  It not only offers qualities such as sound insulation and a sense of warmth but also provides opportunities to define specific areas within a space, for example, to highlight a dining area. The diversity of colors, arrangements, and details makes it adaptable to various styles. Using the same type of wood on both the floor and the wall can be preferred to enhance visual harmony within the space.

Using wood in flooring or beams can create an intimate atmosphere in interior spaces. Similar to wall usage, it allows for the separation and emphasis of specific areas within a space. However, it is essential to pay attention to colors in this usage. Dark wood on the ceiling may give the perception of a lower ceiling height than it actually is. Therefore, using wood on the ceiling should be done purposefully, ideally in high and well-lit spaces or in specific sections of the space.

Wooden Furniture and Accessories

Wooden furniture serves as a complement to various interior styles. For example, an industrial-looking coffee table with a distinctive texture and irregular edges evokes a rustic or boho-themed interior. In such arrangements, mention can also be made of recycled boards that can be used as mirror frames or plant stands. For spaces inspired by the Parisian style, we recommend a wooden chair designed by Pierre Jeanneret or a mid-century modern walnut dresser. To create a more modern Scandinavian style, complementing seating areas with simple and light-colored coffee tables can work wonders. Consider classic elements from Northern European design, such as the beechwood chair CH24 by Hans Wegner or the teak armchair designed by Kristiansen; they can be inspiring choices.

The living room is a key area that reflects the overall aura of the house and provides clues about the space's identity. Using accessories is an effective method to make the living room a warmer, more intimate, relaxing, and comfortable place. Wooden wall clocks, magazine racks, candle holders, figurines, and plant pots can be preferred. Additionally, the presence of modern, abstract wooden sculptures and wooden frames surrounding a large artwork is a delightful way to add a sophisticated touch to your living room.
