Metropol Parasol
Metropol Parasol, designed by German architect Jürgen Mayer, is opened in 2011 and is located in Seville, Spain. This building is one of the largest and most interesting wooden structures in the world. The structure consists of four huge mushroom-shaped wooden planks and covers a square measuring 150 x 70 meters. The skeleton of the structure is made using six layers of interconnected wooden planks. These plates are placed inclined towards each other. The walkways on the upper floors of the building offer visitors an open-air platform and enjoy the city views.

Fuji World Heritage Center
The Fuji World Heritage Center, designed by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, is a remarkable building with wood materials used and a geometry reminiscent of Mount Fuji. This project was realized after a competition was organized.

The building is located at the foot of Mount Fuji, an important symbol for Japan, referring to the famous mountain. Being aware of the fact that it cannot compete with the beauty of Mount Fuji, the architect upside down the wooden mountain structure, which is the focal point of the building, and integrated it into the building.

Last Wooden House
The "Last Wooden House" in Japan, built entirely of wood, was designed by Sou Fujimoto Architects. This house draws attention by creating a synthesis between modern architecture and traditional Japanese houses. In the design of this house, the natural texture and craftsmanship of the wood were emphasized together.

Each of the elements that make up a modern house, such as windows, walls, columns, and furniture, are produced with different materials. In that design of house, the architect answers the question of how a house can be built entirely out of wood. The Last Wooden House has an open-plan layout often seen in Japanese homes. Areas such as the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen are clearly interconnected and the units are not separated by walls. Instead, the wooden planks create the living room, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen areas. The Last Wooden House attracts attention not only with its modern architecture, but it’s also as an example of the use of natural and sustainable materials.
