Layers in Engineered Wood Flooring: Two-Layer and Three-Layer
29/05/2023

Engineered wood flooring is a floor covering system that stands out with its elegance and durability. It is divided into two-layer and three-layer parquet, depending on the number of layers it has. Both types of flooring offer exclusive benefits to users, including affordability, durability, and easy installation. However, there are some basic differences between the two parquet types that can make it difficult to decide which one to choose. Knowing some basic features can help overcome this difficulty and select the right parquet type.

In this week's blog post, we will explain the features of two-layer and three-layer engineered wood flooring.

Engineered wood flooring has a multi-layered structure that protects against wear and tear. The natural wood makes the parquet attractive and each piece unique, creating a healthy space. With a long service life and superior resistance to shape changes, this flooring is suitable for use in heavy-traffic areas, commercial spaces, and homes.

Two Layer Engineered Wood Flooring

Two-layer parquet is a type of flooring that consists of a top layer that provides color and texture to the surface and a bottom layer that provides durability. A special resin is applied between the two layers, which increases the stability of the parquet by bonding the layers together.

Unlike three-layer parquet, two-layer parquet does not have a middle layer. Instead, the bottom layer takes on the role of the middle layer. The top layer is similar to the top layer of three-layer parquet, providing color and texture to the parquet.

Two-layer parquet is lighter and more flexible than three-layer parquet. This flexibility allows the parquet to bend in a controlled manner, making it more suitable for use in areas with curved surfaces.

Three Layer Engineered Wood Flooring

Three-layer parquet consists of a top layer, a middle layer, and a bottom layer. It goes through similar production stages as two-layer parquet and is delivered to the end user. These parquets have high strength due to their layers.

The top layer of the three-layer parquet gives it its texture and color. This layer has an average thickness of 3-6 mm.

The middle layer, which provides durability to the parquet, is thicker than the other layers. The middle layer, which is on average 8.5 mm thick, is produced from softwood materials. This layer is placed diagonally compared to the top layer, making the parquet more resistant to flexing and bending, which increases its strength.

The bottom layer, located at the end of the three-layer parquet, is thinner than the other layers. It has an average thickness of 2 mm and is specially designed to protect the parquet against moisture.

Conclusion

Two-layer and three-layer wood parquet have distinct characteristics. However, your preference between the two types of parquet will be determined by diverse needs such as budget constraints, sound absorption requirements, and moisture control needs.
